The TDA is in contact with Tennessee Department of Health and the Board of Dentistry advocating for dentists and the dental team. In discussion with state health department administrators and other state officials, the TDA advocated for Tennessee dentists and dental team members to be among the first to receive the new vaccine for COVID-19. A letter from TDA President Dr. Jeannie Beauchamp, to Gov. Bill Lee on Dec. 10 explains the reasons why.
Currently, oral healthcare providers are categorized in Phase 1a2, as detailed in the COVID-19 Vaccination Plan for Tennessee. Per the BOD, most individuals qualifying for Phase 1a2 will receive the vaccine through their employer or events coordinated through their county department of health. Communications will come directly from those entities. We will keep members updated as the vaccine continues to roll out to priority groups in Phase 1 over the coming weeks.
At this time, the BOD is directing licensees to the TDH COVID-19 website for up to date information on the vaccine distribution. Health care providers with questions may also call 615-741-7247 to speak with a member of the TDH Communicable and Environmental Diseases and Emergency Preparedness Program (CEDEP) team.
The TDA will continue to monitor and report additional information as it becomes available
